Description: Extreme minimum temperature over 30-year period from 1981 - 2010. Extreme minimum temperature represents the absolute coldest temperature recorded during the 30-year period, which is relevant because extreme minimum temperatures govern the distribution and structure of mangroves in this region. This temperature map is represented in three zones that are meaningful for mangroves: below -7 (°F) in which mangroves may be killed, between -4 (°F) and -7 (°F) in which mangroves may sustain leaf damage, and above -4 (°F) in which mangroves can thrive.
